For generations, Gilman has maintained a strong tradition of family, academics, and meaningful opportunities for students. We have been committed to providing students with a well-rounded education and opportunities to participate in co-curricular activities. We have done this while maintaining a fiscally responsible budget responsive to enrollment changes, essential educational programs, and services for our students.
The challenge we have faced for the past 12 years is that state-regulated revenue limits are insufficient to cover the cost of the educational and co-curricular programs and services our community wants our students to receive, requiring an operational referendum.
An operational referendum is a request to voters to exceed the state-regulated revenue limit to provide the necessary funds for instructional programs and services. State-regulated revenue limits continue to fall short of funding the educational and co-curricular programs and services our community wants our students to receive. For this reason, the Board is presenting another operational referendum for the next four (4) school years to continue essential programs and services for the students of our District.
The encouraging news is that, between our commitment to fiscal responsibility and our ability to generate revenue through open enrollment at eSucceed Virtual School, the next referendum will be $200,000 lower than our current referendum.
More information will be provided at Board Meetings, communitywide informational meetings, on the District website, and in the District Newsletter. In the meantime, mark your calendar for April 7, 2026, election day to vote on the referendum request. If you have any questions or requests for more information, please contact Dr. Wally Leipart, Superintendent/Special Education Director at the District Office, 715-447-8211, or wleipart@gilman.k12.wi.us.
Thank you,
